I'm gay and I buaya, you?

Buaya - Malay language for 'Crocodile'. Also used connotatively to describe cheeky men who are into sex... :)

Tropic Thunder

I was wondering if it is 'safe' to watch another Ben Stiller commedy... Most of such shows are stupid and not so funny anymore... But Tropic Thunder is quite different... Apart from some stupid jokes... *rolleyes*

Basically, Tropic Thunder is about some actors making a war movie and end up in a real-life kidnapping situation with a drug gang in the jungles. Ignore how the guys got to where they are and how they managed to do so etc... Cos it makes no sense... The actors were supposed to be in South Eastern Vietnam but a short helicopter ride took them to the Golden Triangle... across at least 2 international borders... and the drug gang speaks Mandarin... *rolleyes* Anyway... The actors have to get themselves out of the situation and and then win some awards... :p

This movie stars big names... Besides, Ben Stiller, there is Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr and *gasp* Tom Cruise!... :p I did not know About Cruise until the credits start to roll... Hahahaha! :p

Overall, I think this movie is quite watchable... There are some gross jokes, particularly about eating meat off a freshly blow off human head... *vomit* But otherwise, the movie is actually, rather enjoyable... :p

More information on the movie can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropic_Thunder

Thanks for reading...

20th Century Boys

This is a trilogy based on an acclaimed 24-volume Japanese manga. I had never read the manga before and I only knew that this is a big-budget star-studded ambitious trilogy tells the fantastical tale of a bunch of middle-aged friends who reunite because of a friend's death. But they soon find themselves drawn into a mysterious conspiracy thanks to a mysterious character named "Friend". The whole movie stars 300 Japanese actors and actresses, some of whom you will find familiar, as you watch the movie... Especially if you are familiar with the Japanese entertainment industry.

It gets a little complicated to watch but you will understand that the friends start to discover that a series of real events, based on their childish stories, made up some 30 years ago, about the destruction of the earth, is starting to happen.

Cities are hit with a deadly virus and and a Japanese airport is destroyed. Soon, a giant robot began appearing, spewing deadly virus mist killing anyone whose skin touched the mist...

While the filming and acting feels really manga-ish, 20th Century Boys is actually quite fun to watch... And though it feels a little lengthy, the story keeps you to the seat and wanting for more... :p

I certainly look forward to parts 2 and 3... :p

For more information on the original storyline that the movie changed slightly, you can refer to this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/20th_Century_Boys

Mama Mia!

Caught the show... And I loved it! :p

I almost wanted to stand by and sing along... Kekeke... In fact... I DID sing along... Until I realised I might be singing a little too loudly to let the young gay boy sitting next to me hear... :p

Dun want the young boys to laugh at us old boys, eh? :p

I LOVE ABBA! Hahaha... :p

Anyway, the movie is about a girl, who was raised by a single mother, wanting to know who her father is, and so invited 3 possible ones to her wedding... And in the end, each discovered what they really want... :) It is a story based on the ABBA songs and so if you love them, like me, go forth and catch the show! :)

However... I kinda think Merryl is a little... err... not really suitable leh... In some scenes, she just look like she is feeling weird and not natural... :p

Colin is good... And he has a surprised... ;)

I got the sound track and I think I will get the movie DVD and watch and sing along many times... LOL! :p

Oh oh oh... Lots of man chest to look at too... And a butt scene! ;) Bear lovers should enjoy some scenes...

Enjoy! :)

My Sassy Girl

*Yawn*

:p

That's how I will describe this movie, a Hollywood re-make of the very popular and funny Korean movie of the same title...

And not only do they share the same title, they share the same plot, same jokes and same choking (would-be) moments...

In case you didn't watch the Korean original, this movie is about a 'loser' guy who met and rescued a pretty girl who turned out to an unreasonable girl who sticks to the guy and wanna be his girlfriend. The girl was actually trying to let go of her past and the 2 fall in love in the end.

Unfortunately, though, this Hollywood version is boring and slow and the characters lack development and worse of all, a total copying of the Korean plot... Even the changing of shoes, face slapping and the marching army, the piano recital and the soldier in amusement park scenes... Really... I keep thinking of the Korean movie when I saw the scenes...

And then I start comparing them... And I can't help but feel like shedding some tears... for the Korean movie's scenes! Yes... I don't find the Hollywood scenes sentimental or sad, it is the Korean ones, which I think of due to the Hollywood ones, that made me feel like crying...

I almost fell asleep a couple of times... And several couples walked out of the theater halfway through the show... And boy nearly snored as he slept through half the movie...

I seriously think the Hollywood people should just let us, Asians, do our thing and watch the dubbed or original for best effect, Asian films... Or just release your versions on your own soil and dun come and waste our time and money... :p

Wall.E

Wallllll....Eeee....

Eee....Va....

Aww...

:p

Since when is the love between 2 robots so celebrated by humans?

Wall.E, Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth Class, is a robot working on the deserted Earth at the year 2700, after the humans had polluted it so badly, all life died out and the humans had to flee... And after several hundred years, Wall.E had developed a personality... And a friendship with a cockroach... And it is lonely...

So, when Eve, Extra-terrestrial Vegetation Collector, is sent on a mission (directive) to source for bio-life on Earth, Wall.E falls for Eve and when Eve found a plant and needs to be brought back to the Axiom, a spaceship where humans had lived and evolved in deep space for several hundred years, Wall.E follows her and inevitable, reminded the humans up of their link to Earth and their ability to walk... And thus set them on a mission to return to Earth and clean the place up so they can live on Earth again.

The first half an hour or so, there is absolutely no dialogue from the characters... At first I thought it will be boring... But then, Wall.E is so cute and lovable... No one cares if there will ever be any form of dialogue... Though the story is a little ridiculous, it can remind you of what we humans are doing now to harm our home... The ONLY place we can safely live in... The one and only Earth...

So, enjoy the movie, throw away your logic, but be reminded to be environmentally friendly... :)

And fall in love with Wall.E... :) I know boy did... Kekeke... :p

12 Lotus

Hmm... I watched this some time back liao... :p

But then I guess I should write about it bah... :p

Royston Tan did it again... Another movie with a number in the title and another movie with a strong local flair...

But I think he did himself in this time...

12 Lotus is a good movie... But the timing is not good for the movie, I'd say. After 881, everyone is really expecting the same explosion of colours and songs... But 12 Lotus is more quiet. It is slightly more serious and hinges on it being a musical. But it is not really a musical... And the songs are less colourful and familiar to the younger audience... The directing is better than 881, the actors and actresses had improved also... But somehow I feel the movie carried too much of 881's ghost with it and that spoils the movie...

Essentially, the movie is about Lian Huey, a singer, who was abused by her father (who was actually protecting her at the same time) and 2 other men in her life. She was played by Mindee Ong and Liu Ling Ling and Qi Yu Wu played the 2 men who caused her suffering. I must say, I just find Liu Ling Ling wonderful... Though many say she is a little too exaggerating in her acting of the older and slightly mentally disturbed Lien Huey... I think she played the role well... I would think that it is not she who is exaggerating... It is the actors playing along side her that needs brushing up on their acting skills...

Besides carrying the ghost of 881 with it, I think the timing of the launch also affected the movie. Jack's Money No Enough 2 had just started its run and it is a very popular show... And people started to compare the 2...

12 Lotus lost in the sentimental portion of the fight... I just find it difficult to cry when I want to... The tear-inducing scenes are just too short and too shallow... Though there are good scenes...

Just too bad, there was never a complete version of the song '12 莲花' in the movie...

Well, in any case, I still think it is a pretty good movie to watch. And we should support the cute Royston... :p And hey... you know he sings very well too? He sings in one half of a song, 小雨伞, in the sound track... Here's the live Hokkien version...

Enjoy the movie! :)

Fate

The Korean movie, that is... ;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTWFxEAm5Ak

The movie stars my all-time favourite Kwon Sang Woo and my used-to-be one-time favourite Song Seung Heon... Both are gangsters who used to be good friends and became sworn enemies.

On the whole, except for the time when I was looking at my cute Kwon, I was just totally confused by the Korean names and plot... There are lots of betrayal and fighting and in my opinion, a little messy... And halfway through, I almost fell asleep... If not for the fact that I do not want Boy to mock at me for wanting to watch this show but ended up sleeping, like he did, I would have fallen asleep... :p

Although filled with action, I find the story slow and draggy... The ending is a little silly too... A little expected... Though also unexpected... All I can say is, Don't get involved. Don't join a gang... There are no good endings... And ANYONE can betray you... In the end, many a times, it is a matter of 鹬蚌相争, 渔翁得利...

Anyway... If you are attracted to watch the show because of the poster, be prepared to be disappointed... The actors dun get to strip... Song had some shirtless scenes once in a while... But Kwon only got to show off at the end... With almost everyone else, as a flashback... And it is for so short a time... :p

And watch out for the cutie, Ji Seong... :p

Money No Enough 2

After 10 years since the first 'Money No Enough', '钱不够用', director Jack Neo finally came up with this part 2 of the highly successful movie... And the trailer had been making many people look forward to the movie... :p

And the critics and media had been taking both ends of the critic spectrum ever since...

Some love it... Some hate it... Their reactions had been very extreme...

Those who hate the show said that the plot is old and the predictable and the trick of using dialect is no longer Jack's advantage. Some even mentioned that Jack tried too hard to play the sympathy card and the second part of the movie was overly sentimental (well, can't find the right word to replace 煽情)...

Those who love it, of course, played on dialect and the many jokes poking the Singapore government...

I must say, I tend to find the jokes and sarcasm on the Singapore government a little too much... Maybe it is getting old... Or maybe it is the National Day period and the patriotism spirit is sub-consciously arising... Whatever... :p And I love the emotional and sentimental part of the movie.

This movie is not all fun and laughter all the way... The second part of the movie is rather sentimental and is almost guaranteed to make you cry... I cried like crazy... :p But Jack is good as he had placed some well timed jokes in-between the sentimental and emotional scenes and you dun feel too heavy emotionally throughout the second part of the movie...

The only bad thing I wanna comment would be the acting skills of some of the actors... While Henry Thia finally got a role more suitable for his language and acting ability, the same cannot be said of the supporting roles... Jack's wife might be a minor local celebrity but that does not mean she can really act... The girl playing his daughter is worse... Though I must say her bad acting made her character more irritable... which actually works...

Lin Ru Ping and Lai Meng, playing Henry's wife and mother, respectively, are the better actresses... In fact, Lai Meng will make you really think she really is so old and having all the old people illness... A sharp contrast to her role in Jack's last movie 'Ah Long Pte Ltd'... I particularly love a scene where she acted against Mark Lee about her bra... Really made me laugh till almost cry... :p

Overall, I think this movie is great... It makes you think a lot as you leave the theater... which is what I think the director wanted... Go catch the movie before everyone around you started talking about it... :)

The Mummy 3

Well... Despite my protests, I was still being dragged to watch 'The Mummy 3 Tomb of the Dragon Emperor'...

I had mentioned that I believed that in a curse of the Mummy, brought on by the stupid movie series... But as Little Motivator commented, I should use the opportunity to break the curse...

So... since technically, it is not an Egyptian mummy we are talking about in the movie... Here's wishing that the curse will be broken! :)

Basically this movie is about explorer Rick O'Connell, played by Brendan Fraser again, being tricked to go to China and together with his wife, son and brother-in-law, woke an evil Chinese emperor up from his curse and thus finding it necessary to find a way to stop his evil-take-over-the-world plan...

I must say... Brendan Fraser is not young... But he certainly is too young looking to be the father of well grown up Luke Ford... They look kinda more like brothers with a bigger age gap... Anyway... I never realised that Brendan Fraser has a nice body... Kekeke... There's a scene where he has to go topless... *swoon*... :p

Ok... Enough about the white cast... The Asian cast... Hmm... First thing first... Hollywood should seriously consider paying to have REAL Chinese speaking actors and actresses play roles of the Chinese people... It is really weird that a Chinese watching the movie will have to rely on English subtitles to find out what the supposedly-Chinese-speaking actors or actresses are talking about... Not because the movie goer has a poor command of the Chinese language but because the actors/actresses cannot speak the language... *roll eyes*

The general, Ming... played by ABC Russel Wong dun really get to speak but when he does, he speaks with a terrible slang... And Michelle Yeoh... My goodness... is another one you need to rely on subtitles to find out what she is talking about... Well.. I understand that she had improved... but... Oh... She should have been given credit for this show... Too bad she was never credited... And same thing for Anthony Wong, who played a general plotting to revive the emperor and a very familiar-looking lady who played his faithful sidekick... Asian marketing people should have credited them... They did for Edison Chen's 1 second role in 'The Dark Knight'... :p Why not these?

Anyway... Jet Li's performance for the show is really... err... never mind... :p They could have find someone else to play the emperor... But since fight scenes are needed... Oh well... :p

Overall, I will think it is a watchable movie... Quite entertaining... But please dun bring logic into the theatre... Watch out for a comical scene involving skeletons... That one really brought me laughing loudly for quite a while... kekeke...

Having said that, I certainly hope there will not be a 'Mummy 4' movie... :|

The X-Files - I Want to Believe

Hmm...

I am not a fan of the X-files... Mainly because I am not someone who watches English dramas and serials on television... But the concept of the X-files quite attracts me and so I watched the last X-file movie... which was like a few years back...

This new X-files movie still stars David Duchovny as Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson as Danan Scully but the 2 of them had visibly aged quite a bit... :p Though I must say that David Duchovny still looked pretty attractive... ;)

The story started with a missing FBI agent and eventually unfolded to a gay couple and a pedophile. Makes you wonder what's the big fuss about a missing FBI agent when thousands of ordinary citizens go missing in the USA... And also... They seem to try to associate the gay couple with the pedophile... Which I dun like the idea of...

This X-file movie is quite dumb, if you ask me... It can be a little confusing as it was not properly explained why the operation on one of the gay couple (which is what the movie is all about) had to be conducted... And it is a little confusing on the missing people part... You tend to not know who is who after a while... :p

In any case, the ending might be crap to some people... It is rather abrupt, if you ask me... And the director seem to want to let the audience decide for themselves whether they themselves want to believe... :p

The Dark Knight

Hmm... What can I say? The Dark Knight is indeed very very dark...

I dun really enjoy it as much as the previous movie (I didn't really watched the previous movies before Christian Bale became Batman)... :p It kept me at the edge of my seat too much throughout the movie... I was squirming almost from the beginning till almost the end and hoping that the movie will end faster...

This particular Joker is really too much of a villain... Too scary... It is no wonder why so many people believe the late Heath Ledger had to be on medication after acting for this movie which probably led to him later dying of an accidental drug overdose...

He had indeed brought out the dark side side of the human character and created a villain that the Batman is finding very difficult to face and get rid of...

If you enjoy movies that are less happy-go-lucky, more morbidly dark and human... Perhaps you will really like this movie... :p Well, to be fair, I enjoyed it lah... just find it a tad too dark for its own good...

Enjoy the movie...

The Curse of the Mummy...

I HATE the movie series, 'The Mummy'...

I believe I suffered from the 'curse of the mummy'...

Why?

Well... The last movie I watched with my first ex is 'The Mummy'... We broke up shortly thereafter...

When 'The Mummy 2' came about, I suffered another breakup...

And so, when the newest movie from the 'Mummy' series is showing, I am really worried... I had already told boy that I will NEVER watch the movie...

I am kinda scared I will lose boy due to this 'curse'...

:/

On Saturday TCS showed 'The Scorpion King', a pre-quel to 'The Mummy 2'... And I saw the movie before realising is is a pre-quel... I wonder if...

Well... I wonder if I am just thinking too much...

Anyway, we are meeting less and less these days... Nowadays, we only get to meet twice a week... and only once last week...

:/

Red Cliff

Watched Red Cliff, 赤壁, recently.

I dun really enjoy such movies as the fighting war scenes really grossed me out most of the time... And I did not read up on such history... But I must say... this show is pretty interesting... I enjoyed the scenes where the war tactics are being discussed and used... Very interesting.

Of course, the men of Red Cliff really attracted me... Kekeke...

4 of the leading men are really my type... Made me drool for them throughout the show... :p

Here they are, in descending order of my liking (lust :p) for them:

张震, Chang Chen

I dunno when I started liking this guy but I think he is one of the coolest and cutest actors ever in Mandarin cinema... He has this boyish-manly look and it just drives me crazy... His 1-eye-bigger-than-the-other-eye look also can be quite a turn on... A defect that made him has more character... :p It's just too bad he mainly got small, minor roles in blockbusters or starring only in lower budget, arty films...

Anyone has his topless pics? :p

*drool*

胡军, Hu Jun

I first noticed this China actor from '蓝宇, Lan Yu', which should be the most famous gay-themed chinese film now... And I loved him ever since... :p His appearance in '金鸡, Golden Chicken' just made me like him more... He is manly and his body really turns me on... Kekeke... He is just too man to be true... Kekeke...

Can't find his topless pics also... Anyone has? What about his frontal nude pics from Lan Yu? :p

金城武, Takashi Kaneshiro

(Ignore Zhao Wei... :p)

This half-japanese-half-chinese actor had been around the scene for many many years... Starting as a singer, he shot to fame with his boiyish good looks... And he flourished as he aged... Now he can really be said to be one if the most handsome actors around... He is really a face to look at... Especially when the movie is not very interesting...

He looks a little strange though in his role as 诸葛亮 in Red Cliff... Maybe he is just too handsome... Or he looks too boyish... :p

Also no topless pics found for this actor... But I wonder if he is too skinny to look nice topless... :p

梁朝伟, Tony Leung

This actor is the oldest amongst the 4... :p But he has his charms... His eyes are those that will kill you... Kekeke... No need to say much about him. His past movies
had proved his charm. Few people will not like him or fall for him... :p

However, I kinda think his face had been over-smoothed for the movie poster... Kekeke...

Though he went totally nude for the movie, 色,戒 (Lust.Caution) and had went topless for many movies earlier in his career, it is quite difficult to find topless pics of him... Maybe he is too skinny for most people and so his topless pics can't really be found on the Internet... Or maybe because he is such a character actor, no one thought of him as erotic... :p

Anyway... This Japanese actor is also very cute:

Who is he ah? :p (post edit: He is Shido Nakamura, thanks, Casio_888)

Anyway... As I mentioned, the movie is rather interesting as war tactics were used and displayed... And I certainly look forward to the 2.5hr continuation of this 2.5hr first part-er. :)

Thanks for reading...

The Happening happening meh?

Gosh... The Happening is so un-happening... Even the now-not-so-cute-but-still definitely-fuckable Mark Wahlberg cannot save the show... Ya, ya... I know... The trailers are good... But... urrgh!...

And I thought I had seen the worst movie of the year when I had seen 'Dance of The Dragon'... Ok, ok... The Happening is slightly better... Even the nipples of Jang and Lee cannot save 'Dance'... :p

Anywayz... I am now thinking I might never want to see another movie by M. Night Shyamalan... It had been a downslope ride since 'The Sixth Sense'... The only good thing about this movie is the scary scenes of people trying to kill themselves... I tell you... They are not stingy with those shots... Not for the faint hearted... :p

Sex and the City

Hmm... I finally caught the Sex and the City (SATC) movie... and I think this movie is rubbing into me more than I should ever allow it to...

I am now hunting for the series (yes, I am one of those rare gay guys who had not watched the series before the show...) high and low and yesterday, I finally found that Tudou has them... And I started watching them online, streaming, in my office... And neglecting my work... Then I realised that the site does not have EVERY episode... and some of the episodes they have are not complete! *Eeks!* Now I am at series 1, episode 6 and I realised I skipped episode 5 and there might be no episodes 7-10!! *Pui!* :p

Anyhowz... Maybe it is the SATC thingie rubbing on me, I began to see some of the BW guys closer to me as the characters from SATC... yup... I think I am crazy over the SATC thing... :p

Anywayz... Me, LS, B and SS had been meeting up very frequently over the past 1.5 weeks... Me, because I need company... Had been feeling down for a long time and I need their company... As for LS, B and SS... well... they shared secrets... :p

Well, we met so regularly, SS already branded us as 'sisters'... Not that me, LS and B like the term very much... :p I prefer to label each one of us as sluts... LOL!! And then this SATC movie came by and I sort of began to think that we are like the poor-man gay version of the SATC... :p We sleep around, we date, we talk about men and we talk about our dates and sex partners... and we bitch about one another... and we bitch about other men... I just wish we can tell each other more and help keep secrets and help with each other's problems... :p That's why 'sisterhood' is all about eh? :p

But this is eating into our time, I guess... SS seemed overwhelmed now... I hope he is feeling emotionally ok...

Alrite... So, who is who? Kekeke... Well, that's for the 4 of us to argue... :p

Thanks for reading... :)

881 ah, yo ah yo... :p

Ok... Let me steal some time off my work to write about this... Take the opportunity to stay away from work for some time and relax... :p

I watched 881 after National Day and boy do I love it... :p

I am not into Hokkien songs at all, but the songs sound familiar and the music had been re-written to give them a more modern 'feel'... Which sells... Too bad some of the Hokkien songs are very sad songs...

The movie is a bit of fantasy, a bit of reality, very musical, a comedy with very touching sad scenes that can make you cry... I can watch it over and over again... :p

The Papaya sisters' acting are very good... The costumes are very eye-catching, Liu Lingling is a very good actress, she carries her funny lines extremely well and when she is sad, you feel with her... 715 looks very good... too bad he only has 1 scene of showing off his well defined chest and abs... Kekeke... I was trying hard to pin point his crotch! LOL! Most of time, 715 was being told 'to go play with his bird' in the show, which sounded really crude and funny at the same time... LOL!

When 715 and Royston appear together at the premiers, you just can't help but wish they are a couple... Kekeke...

Anyway, here are some clips on 881!

I like the title, '一人一半' very much... The movie plays the Hokkien version though, which has quite different lyrics... The Mandarin version is now even in the top 20 of 933's Pop Charts! Youtube has a duet version of the song, which is even nicer...

Gosh... this is a long post eh? :p

Btw, just found out from Ah Kiong that some women are reading my blog! OMG!!... In the first place, this blog was not catered to non-gay men and now I have straight women reading... So, of course, a comment that they made was that my postings are too, err... graphic... :p

As such, I apologise to the ladies reading this blog for the 'graphic-ness'... But hor... Err... I think that's the way I write for this blog... And so, bear with me hor... Please... :p

Brokeback Mountain

Congratulations to Lee Ann (Please! He is a Chinese, his name is Lee Ann, not Ann Lee!!)... for winning the Best Diretor award at the Oscars... Well done!

Anyway, I like to say I like the movie, it is a little slow but the scenery is nice and the story about cowboys in love and having sex is, well, kinky but nice. :)

However, I also say the story can be better... Eh, there's still room for improvement? Don't take the losing of Best Picture too hard, eh, Mr Lee? :p

Anyway, hopefully this movie can allow some people to think about gay relationships, the pain of being in love and not accepted just simply because the 2 are of teh same sex... I want to be seen holding my boy's hands and kissing him in public without being shamed or ridicued... I want to be able to express my love for my boy just like how those straight couples are doing... I want to be able to display my affection for him... And I want to have the legal responsibilities of caring for and looking out for him...

Oh well, hopefully, things WILL get better!

Here are some cartoons with ideas from Brokeback Mountain... :p
